OUR IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY

Please read all the following information to understand the Identification we at Wests Self Drive Hire require from all drivers wishing to drive the rental vehicle.

 

  • ALL drivers must attend our office to be put on the rental vehicle insurance, unless they have attended in advance, prior to collection.
  • Payment for the rental vehicle can only be paid on the main drivers Visa Debit or Visa Credit card or Mastercard Credit Card,  unless you are booking the vehicle in the name of a company, where we will accept payment off a company card - (copy of the card is required as well as a headed company order.)
  • The payment card must be produced upon collection of the vehicle, unless you are a company where a colour copy of the card can be emailed to us along with your order on letter headed paper.
  • The driver's driving licence and their two proof of address identity must all match (be in the same address) and in their current home address.

If you are renting the vehicle privately (not on behalf of a company) then one payment must be from the main drivers credit or debit card (via chip & pin) for security reasons.

Please ensure you know your pin number and have clear funds available.

IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED   -    IF YOU LIVE IN THE UK

All the below documents must be in the name of the driver(s).  Each and every driver must produce these original documents and attend the rental office to be added to the rental vehicle agreement and insurance.



PROOF OF IDENTITY No 1.

Full valid driving licence . .. either:

 

  • Current valid UK photo card driving licence with valid licence check code    or 
  • Old valid paper driving licence with valid licence check code and valid passport   or
  • Current valid Northern Ireland photo card driving licence with valid licence check code  and valid passport  or 
  • Full valid EU driving licence with a valid international driving permit and valid passport
  • If you have a non UK driving licence, you must notify us when booking.  If we can hire your deposit/excess may be higher

 

            Please Note: The driving licence must be in the driver's current address.


PROOF OF IDENTITY No 2. 


A Valid  - 

  • Visa Debit Card   or 
  • Visa Credit Card  or 
  • Mastercard Credit Card 
  • Mastercard Debit Card is only accepted if it has been issued from a UK high street bank i.e. Santander, Natwest, RBS, Metro.


Non UK driving licence holders will need either a Visa or Mastercard Credit Card as ID and will also need to pay on this card.

 

We do not accept American Express, Pre-Paid, Top-up, Cash Cards or any card that is not in  the name of the driver etc.


PROOF OF IDENTITY No 3.

TWO Different Proofs of current address   this can be from the below accepted list, we do not accept your driving licence as a proof of address.  If your bills and statements are online (paperless) please' log on' to your online accounts to download them in a PDF and then email them to us (if you do not have a printer to print them off).   (Please put your booking number as the reference)


Please make sure:   ALL bills, banks statement, credit card statements are issued within 90 days (3 months) of your rental vehicle collection date, if the issue date is over 90 days then we cannot accept them as they are too old. 


WE ONLY ACCEPT THE BELOW AS PROOFS OF ADDRESS IDENTITY, NOTHING ELSE WILL BE ACCEPTED. 

The address on your two proofs of address identity must also match the address on your current valid driving licence and be from two different suppliers/companies/banks from the list below. 


Accepted Proofs Of Address Identity List

 

  • Recent gas / electric bill
  • Recent water / sewage bill
  • Recent TV Licence
  • Council tax invoice (only accepted if the issue date of the bill is within 90 days of your collection date)
  • Mortgage Statement
  • Recent landline phone
  • Recent home broadband bill 
  • TV Entertainment Package Bill - from either: Sky, Virgin or BT
  • Bank statement  (you can use two banks statements as long as they are from two different banks)
  • Credit card statement (you can use two credit card statements as long as they are from two different card companies)
  • HMRC  invoice/letter

 

Reminder: The proofs of address must be addressed to the driver (full name) and in their current home address and dated within the last 3 months/90 days.  We cannot accept any of the above if they mention debit recovery, final reminder, unpaid amounts etc.

PROOF OF IDENTITY No 4. 

When Travelling Outside of Mainland UK :  (Traveling outside of mainland UK is at an additional charge)

Each driver needs their valid passport as we will need to take a copy of this prior to departure and a valid international driving licence.

If you are renting a minibus with more than 9 seats, a driver digital tachograph card is also required in when driving a minibus outside of the UK, even for personal use.  This can be obtained via the GOV.UK website and normally takes around  6 weeks from the point of ordering a card.


5.   PAYMENT FOR SECURITY DEPOSIT

This is required upon collection method of payment accepted is by Visa Debit,  Visa Credit Card or Mastercard Credit Card belonging to the main driver via chip and pin.  Please ensure you have clear funds available and know the pin number for the card.    We do not accept cash or any Mastercard Debit, pre-paid, top-up, travel, cash card, debit card, American Express etc., or a card that is not in the name of the main driver. 


Standard Damage Excess £1000.00.

This amount is not limited to the damage excess amount if damage, claim or theft falls under our 'Exclusion' Section.  This can be found on our terms and conditions.

A UK licence 'Check Code' is required - click here on how to obtain your code . - you cannot hire without a valid, working check code.


PLEASE REMEMBER: IF YOU CANNOT PROVIDE THE ABOVE REQUIRED IDENTIFICATION AND METHOD OF PAYMENT, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HIRE A VEHICLE AND YOU WILL LOSE/FOREIT THE FULL DEPOSIT/HIRE, CANCELLATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLY.  We accept no liability for you not providing the correct identification or a driver that does not fit our driver criteria. 


I.D  WE DO NOT ACCEPT:

Mobile phone bills, debt letters, parking tickets, fines or similar, log books, wage slips, P60 or P45, finance agreements, catalog or store card invoices/bills/letters etc,  over due/final notice letters, eviction notices, council tax bills over 90 days old or anything other than what is listed above in section ID 3. etc.

All the below documents must be in the name of the driver. Each and every driver must produce these original documents at attended the rental office to be added to the rental vehicle agreement and insurance.

If you have a non UK driving licence, you must notify us when booking any vehicle as your deposit/excess may be higher.


Please check your name on all your documents match your name on your licence. If they do not match, we cannot accept them. All Documents must match.


1. FULL VALID CURRENT DRIVING LICENCE 

Non UK driving licences will require a valid International driving permit as well as their full valid driving licence.  Please check to ensure the international drivers permit covers all the countries you wish to travel to/through, as you may need more than one permit.


  • Please make sure the driving licence' valid from date' or' date of test' is on the licence to prove you have held a full driving licence for 3 years or more.  If it does not have these date on the driving licence,  then you will need to provide the previous full driving licence(s) upon collection to prove you have held a full car driving licence for 3 years or more. 


   Restrictions and limitation apply, please check we can insure you on the country your driving licence is issued from before booking.

 

2. CREDIT CARD -

  • Visa or Mastercard Credit Card
  • Must be in the name of the driver.  We do not accept American Express or debit cards etc.


3. VALID PASSPORT


4.  PROOF OF CURRENT HOME ADDRESS - we can accept either a Bank Statement or Credit Card Statement

It must have state on it:

  • driver name and current home address, this must match their name and address on their driving licence
  • It must have an issue date within 90 days of the date you collect the rental vehicle, if it is dated any older we cannot accept it.


5.  PROOF OF ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE IN TO  UK:

This can be either a Flight or Boat : schedule, inventory or boarding pass as proof of you coming and leaving the UK

  • it must state on it
  • the drivers name
  • date of arrive to the UK with flight/boat number etc
  • date of departure from the UK with flight/boat number etc
  • service provider - i.e the airline/cruise company name/details etc.


6. PAYMENT FOR SECURITY DEPOSIT required upon collection -

  • We will only accept a credit card - Visa or Mastercard, belonging to the main driver.   
  • We do not accept pre-paid cards, travel cards, debit cards, a card not in the name of the main driver and home address of the driver. 


STANDARD EXCESS £1000.00

This amount is not limited to the damage excess amount if damage, claim or theft falls under our 'Exclusion' Section.  This can be found on our terms and conditions.  This amount can increase if you have any points or endorsements, accident/insurance claim history or fall under our high risk section.  Please contact us for an insurance clearance if you have any of these. before booking.



PLEASE NOTE:  

IF YOU CANNOT PROVIDE THE ABOVE REQUIRED IDENTIFICATION AND METHOD OF PAYMENT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HIRE A VEHICLE AND YOU WILL LOSE THE FULL DEPOSIT/HIRE THAT WAS PAID AT THE TIME OF BOOKING. We accept no liability for you not providing the correct identification or a driver that does not fit our driver criteria


IF A COMPANY WISH TO HIRE:


All the below documents must be in the name of the driver(s). Each and every driver must attend the rental office to be put on to the rental vehicle agreement and insurance and produce these original documents unless they are the proofs of address which can be downloaded from their online accounts.  We also require a company order on headed company official paper.


DRIVERS PROOF OF IDENTITY No 1.

DRIVERS PROOF OF IDENTITY No 2:  

 

The driver's

  • Visa debit or Visa/Mastercard credit card as ID only

4. COMPANY PROOF OF IDENTITY & PAYMENT CARD From the Company:

 

  • A official company letterhead or purchase order - it must state on it and be addressed to Wests Self Drive Hire
  • Rental booking number
  • Collection and return date and time
  • Driver(s) full name
  • Authorisation to debit your chosen payment card for the rental balance and security deposit
  • Payment card/issuer name (i.e Halifax bank) and last 4 digits of the card number
  • Copy of the payment card


5.  PAYMENT :

Please call us to discuss payment options via card, if rented before we may accept bank transfer.
